Wiper motor plastic gear reproduction

Post by 1974Spider »

So the other day i took my wiper motor apart and found the gear inside with an enormous crack all the way from the center out. I got out some epoxy to glue it and clamped it. After that failed i tried gorrilla glue and with high hopes put the motor back in flipped the swith and nothing moved the motor just spun round and round.

My question is how many people have had the issue with the cracked gear? and
Would anyone benefit from me reproducing some of these gears?

They are old plastic, so cracking is normal. I'm not sure the demand would be worth the amount of work to make these, at least Until all the junkyard ones are done and you cant find them.

Do you have a 3d printer?
I do believe that those plastic gears are available from some vendors but not cheap.
