Ports on top of fuel tank?

Post by burlybryan »

I've just wrapped up replacing the fuel pump, filter and all the associated fuel lines at the tank area of my car. I'm wondering if the two fittings on top of the fuel tank are supposed to be capped or anything. Mighty8's thread below mentions overpressure issues with the tank - are these supposed to be open?

Thanks.

Found a fuel sending unit on Vicks that shows a single tube out of the top of the sending unit. Says for FI cars to just cap it off. Maybe the same applies for the two tube one on my car. Gonna cap it and see what happens.

FI cars are not supposed to have any outlets on the sending unit. Sounds like someone used a sending unit from a carbureted car. Yes, just cap them off.
