choke question

Post by btoran »

my choke works in that it depresses the gas pedal. however, when i pll the choke out, it will slide back to the original position. is there some kind of adjustment for the tension so it stays in place depending on how far out you pull it?

That's not a choke. The choke should not pull the gas pedal at all. All the choke does is close the plate(s) on top of the carburetor. You likely have some kind of throttle, but I thought those were eliminated in 1974. 1975 would have had a water-activated choke on a 32ADF carburetor, it requires you to press the pedal to the floor when the engine is cold, then take your foot off the gas, start the car, and let it warm up.

Agree with Brad. I do not know the 75 but on my 68 the choke is on the left of the steering and the "ICC" Italian Cruise Control" is on the right. The ICC depresses the gas pedal and, if working correctly, stays at the revs you set.
You just have to remember to push in the ICC when you want to stop.
I can see why it was discontinued.

mine is to the left of the steering wheel and says "throttle" on it. it definitely drpesses the gas pedal when i pull it out. it just won't stay pulled out.

If i recall correctly, i though you had to give it a 1/4 trun to keep it in place? I could be wrong.

FYI My '78 also has the manual throttle, which locks the same way. Don't use it as a cruise control!

I have the throttle cable on my '78. I was having problems with my acellerator stiching and it turned out to be that cable sticking. I disconnected the cable and my problems went away. My suggestion if you have one, ask you self if it is safe.
