I'm extremely green when it comes to my knowledge about working on cars let alone a 73 Spider. I really appreciate the value of this form and especially the genuine, non judgmental help from the members. Let me tell you about a recent experience.

In summary I purchased a 73 about I year ago which hasn't run in 25 years ( great condition) I needed brake parts; ignition switch; timing belt.etc. etc. I wanted to save money on shipping costs as I planned a trip to Phoenix AZ so reached out to a Fiat Spider owner to ask about where I could get the parts I needed.I was very fortunate to make contact with AZRuss. He directed me to Ramzi at Auto Ricambi who called me from Texas (I live in Ontario Can.) several times to discuss my needs and ensured I ordered the correct parts. AZRuss suggested I send the parts to his residence in Phoenix to ensure they didn't get lost as I was staying in different locations. He then made special arrangements to meet me to make the exchange. I did miss the first meet up due to being directionally challenged.

AZRuss then took me for my very first ride in a Fiat Spider.

P.S. Would not recommend you transport your car parts in your carry on luggage as airport security spent a far amount of time going through my luggage and getting to know me!

I frequently carry allot of interesting looking product samples in my carry on baggage and that's why I never leave town with an angry wife. She is aware that adding a couple batteries and an alarm clock to my bag would make for an interesting experience for me:)

Its always fun connecting up with brethren from another corner of the universe. Glen and I missed the 1st connection, but managed the 2nd one on the only week of winter we had. Fortunately we had a few hour window with no rain so took the Fiat to the meet. Didn't do a long drive with the weather and no top, but long enough to show Glen what he has in store. Anyhow, it is fun to welcome a new animal to the zoo, especially one that is so enthusiastic about his new prize. We'll see how he feels trying to get the car sorted out. Glen doesn't have much wrench time under his belt but has a good mind for mechanics and the proper frame of mind, so should do fine.
Glen, most of us started out wrenching on our cars with the same amount of experience as you have. That is why we are so understanding. I just wish i had a resource like this forum when i was a newbie.
