Has anyone tried these? Do they work?

Post by focodave »

I'm curious if anyone on the forum has tried these vent window latches:
http://www.international-auto.com/index ... id=2218179

Do they function properly?
Should they be avoided like the plague?
Looking for comments from someone who has actually used them.

Many thanks.

I've used them and they work okay. These are universal and can be bought from many different sources. One potential downside is that they can slide off when the window is open. It's best to glue them on, otherwise you may find yourself doing u-turns to go back and pick them up off the highway

Thanks Mark and BEEK.
Looks like the ones BEEK found will not function properly.
They are of a slightly different design than the ones on IAP's website.

they're best if you don't open the vent window and just want to keep it shut securely

they are exactly the same, just assembled differently, they do work, and like mark said, i use them to secure the window and stop wind noise, not to make functional opening and closing

Thanks again, guys.
I'll wait to see if anyone has a factory latch they can sell me, before I buy one of the aftermarket latches.
I do like to operate the vent wings often.
My car was missing that latch when I bought it.

Matt,

Thanks very much.
The latch looks great.
Can't wait to try to keep it glued on !!

BTW -- I like your car. Nothing like a red Spider, to attract attention.
Ciao!

I've had no luck with gluing the vent window latches on to the glass. I've cleaned the glass, and latch, and used the stuff supposed to hang rear view mirrors. And done it in warm temperatures so the glue and work is at the proper temps. Any ideas on a really good glue?
