DC Fiats held it's annual "Tech Day" on Saturday at John Erskine's house. This years project was upgrading the wipers electrical system. Of course, one of the consistent complaints about the wipers on Fiats is that they're too slow. One of our members designed a relay system to clean up the power delivery to the wiper motor. The result was between a 25-30% increase in speed (for instance, I think mine went from 46 sweeps a minute on high to 60). And it was done without removing the cowl, by splicing into the wiring harness that comes out of the cowl on the passengers side.
We upgraded 11 Spiders, 1 Beta, a couple of X-19's, and completely replaced the wiper motor and wiring on a 124 coupe. We also installed last years tech day upgrade, a headlight relay system, on two 124's. It was a great day.
Here's a photo (thanks Ron) of some of the work being done in John's garage.
