How does one remove the center console?

Post by TStark »

Hi men,

Where are the attachment points for the center console?

I found one under the rear ash box, one on each side by the heater.
I feels like there are more, but i don't want to go yanking it, it feels fragile.

I'm laying down a wiring harness to the seats, for seat heaters.
Heater fan switch is also defective, so i'd like to get full access\

thanks

Take the ashray outin the back of the console, there a screw underneath the ashtray
Sorry. I seen you found it
That should be it, pull the e brake back as far as you can, shifter in place or off, pull it up

You need to take out the center (radio) console. Just the back bolt and the two forward screws. But you need to get underneight and loosen the emergency brake adjustment so the handle will pull up more towards vertical. Then you can jimmy the console out. Oh yeah, you also have to remove the shifter wood too.

Sounds worse than it is.

Screw under rear ashtray
Two screws each side that tie console to radio section.
1 screw each side that ties console to trans tunnel.

That worked good, thanks!

Lower console is out to run wires.

Upper console is modified for main switches ( key switch delete)
And cut in the rotary switches for the seat heaters.
