defroster / heater lights

i have heard that the defroster and heater lights in the center console are lit by fiber optic strands. does anyone have a picture of where the strands meet a light bulb? presumably this would be somewhere behind the dash. my lights don't work and my dash is apart, so this is a good time to tackle this if it's an easy fix. thanks.

Above your right knee as you are in the drivers seat, you will find just under the edge of the dash a light going into a receptacle that has the black coated fiber optic strands.

While we are on the topic does anyone know of a replacement bulb that is significantly brighter than what was originally in there?

If i remember this bulb correctly, it should be a very easy switch to an LED bulb that will use less juice and provide an optimal light for the fiber optic cables that run to the heater switches.
