Remove and Replace Thrust Bearing Tube on Input Shaft

Post by ITA124 »

Hi All,

Been searching and was wondering if anyone has removed and replaced the tube that goes on the gearbox input shaft that the thrust bearing slides on.

Images to come.

Cheers,
Paul

Once you remove the bellhousing from the gear case the tube will slip out of the bellhousing casting. I can't remember exactly if the oil seal for the trans imput shaft is driven into the tube, but I think so. You need to scribe a line around the old one before you drive it out. When you drive in the new oil seal, don't drive it until it bottoms out, just to the scribed line. If the oil seal is driven until it bottoms out, the seal will not index at the right location on the input shaft and you will leak trans oil out the seal.

Thanks Mate,

I have access to donor gearbox to source the tube, so will give it a go.

Cheers,
