o.k. frustration time for me. those spring loaded top clips that clasp the front bow to the windshield frame.
#1 which way are they supposed to point? toward the outside, or toward the inside. I have one car one way, and the other car the other way.
#2 i am having a BIG issue keeping one particular clasp to stay in position. my wife spent the entire 40 minute ride home the other evening holding the clasp in position while we drove home with the top up. NO, it was too cold for top-down.
there seems to be very little adjustment, and my thoughts were to push the clasp as far away from the lip as possible. That does not work, the clasp gives loose with a moderate bump in the road.

Re: top clasps
might be the hook portion is starting to wear out? Mine are not spring loaded, it's the tension of the roof that keep mine flat when roof closed.

Re: top clasps
Mine are pointed out. Maybe the thing they are latching to on the windshield frame is worn down?

Re: top clasps
Mike, my guess is the latch is worn out. They do get a lot of stress on the two hinge points. Try putting a piece or two of cardboard on top of the bow, under the roof and see if the latch works with that extra distance to pull against? Not a permanent fix, but it should tell you if the latch is worn out.

right. I have one car where they are pointed out and one car where they are pointed in. that was just a side question while on the topic. i am confident that pointing out or pointing in, makes no functional difference.
i did discover the problem.
the "rivet" or hinge pin that cannot be seen when the clasp is holding the top down is falling out. quite possibly looks like someone removed and replaced the pin, as there is zero material left to peen over and fix the pin back into place.
fortunately, i had an acceptable replacement on hand from the parts car. it was even pointing in the correct direction. the replacement grabs and clasps that top RIGHT down!!
