1970 Spider Exhaust

Post by MaineSpider »

I am new to Fiat ownership and need some help. I have a 1970 Spider that is in good shape for the year. Does anyone know where can I buy exhaust materials, muffler and pipes?

I tried International but they tell me the '71 muffler they sell won't fit in the space provided on a '70.
Like I said I am a new owner and wonder if any one can help.

Have you tried a local muffler shop? They can make up a system for any car, it wouldn't be OEM, but it serves the purpose.
I've had muffler and pipe work done on several vehicles this way and it's usually cheaper and quicker than ordering something and paying shipping. And, if you ordered the parts, would a muffler shop have to weld them on anyway?

Right, ron.

if you are not concerned about originality or attaining a certain SOUND.... i have found that contracting the local muffler shop ends up being cheaper than I care to work for myself....

Cheaper is right on. We have a guy here in Lancaster I go to. Everytime I get something done, I'm shocked by how reasonable it is. I asked him once how he can do the work so cheap and he said because of the market. He has another shop in Lake Havasu and the prices there are exactly double what they are here.
