Parking brake

Post by BNelsonAz »

Just bought a 1980 Fiat 2000 and one of the glitches is that there is no parking brake. I put it up on my rack, and found that underneath everything is there from the rear brakes up to where the cables meet at a lever mechanism (?) which has a hole that I assume is for a cable. On a quick once over, I couldn't find a body penetration downward or anything that the cable would idle on. I haven't looked for an exploded view online yet, but that would probably be good to have.

Any information or help would be much appreciated!

Thanks Jay, Russ and Beek for your help! :D :D :D

Looking at the pics I have everything but the reod going to the fulcrum, as Beek indicated.

I'll shoot some pics tonight to verify.

your drawing is opposite the picture. looks like the pivot bracket is 90 degrees out of phase and the cable rod is in the wrong hole.

Back off the cable adjusting nuts, turn the pivot bracket anticlockwise taking up the slack and the cable rod will be pulling forward as the handbrake rod pulls up, as the picture shows.
