Headlight Aiming Diagram?

Post by SunnySideUp »

Does anyone have a diagram or tip sheet for properly aiming the headlights on a Spider? I've pawed through all my manuals but came up empty. Essentially what I'm looking for is the factory settings.

Thanks!

You don't need a diagram. Wait until it's dark or dusk and drive up towards a wall, preferably white, and stop about 15 feet from it. Turn the lights on, low beam. You'll then be able to see how the lights are currently aimed. Adjust them high enough so they're effective but not so high that they'll shine into eyes of oncoming drivers.

I like to set the right one so it points somewhat to the right and will illuminate the sidewalk and/or anyone who may be along the side of the road.

I use my garage wall and park about 15 feet away. If the lights on wall are about the same distance apart as the headlights and line up with the height of the light or just below I know I'm set.

The 15ft rule is what I use too.... And you end up with this:

Danq - thanks for the tip on the Daniel Stern site. That is exactly the type of diagram that I've been looking for!

toplessexpat - I think there's a fine line between being able to see down the road and frying anything that gets within 100 feet! :D I'm keeping the arrangement you have as my back-up plan.
