Distributer issue.

Post by LunaticTaskbar »

Hi All,

The car was running a little rough today. So I popped the hood to find that one of the wires had come off... No big deal. However I noticed that the wire that had come away the connector on the distributor cap had a "nick" out of it. a small piece missing.

Now my question is this: Is this ok? or should I be looking for new distributor cap and wires? (might as well change the wires at the same time.

Many thanks for any and all help.

It'll still work OK, put some cable ties around the insulator boots to stop it coming off again. I'd be looking for another cap and leads in the mean time.

Awesome thank you, thats what I thought, I hadn't thought of cable ties for the time being. Good tip thank you.

Being new to the Fiat family, Is the distributor cap and wires off the shelf, or can I only use used parts?

Ok now to show how much I don't know. What's that? How much? What will it do for me?

http://www.allisonsautomotive.com/produ ... electrical. Gets rid of points and better performance. Just put mine in yesterday evening. Super easy! You do need a timing light for final timing adjustment.

Looks good. However I am betting the shipping will be crippling. :(

I would be interested in learning if you experience any difference Michael. Maybe you could give us a little short review?

shipping to Canada is about $65, so not crippling but definitely a kick to the shin

Either way you end up limping away from it... lol

I will eagerly read any writes ups or reviews

It could make an interesting addition. Thanks Mark.

Actually just getting a few minutes to peruse the website, you have some awesome items Mark. Is there import duties etc, on items ordered?

Yeup. I'll qualify that of course. I'm fortunate to live (65K's) from the boarder and will use a mail drop on the US side for shipping. I drive down and pick it up and when I cross the line will show the agent the receipt. He/she has in the past when there is a great big line up, say...todays a free-bee and off I go. Most times either at the boarder or if mailed up, I pay tax and customs at the post office.
If it was made in the states I don't believe there should be duty though....part of that free trade agreement.
