How to clean plastic air intake plenum?

Any suggestions on the best way to clean the dirt and grit on an 82 air plenum (the large plastic tube between the AFM and intake manifold)? Are any of these methods better than the other?

1. Detergent, water, a bucket and brush (needs to fully dry of course )
2. Carbon cleaner (might take too many cans)
3. Can(s) of degreaser, maybe then follow up with #1 above?

I use method #3 myself

#3 worked very well indeed, with less than 1/2 a can.
