Gear Reduction Starter

Post by aj81spider »

I have the engine out of the car and put one of Mark's gear reduction starters on yesterday. I searched on this site a little and looked at the mounting - it doesn't look like any shims are required (or could be used!). Is that true? It's just a bolt in and go?

I upgraded mostly because of the horror stories about trying to change a starter with the engine in the car. I can say with assurance - it's really easy when the engine is out!

To the best of my memory from a few years ago. I just bolted in on wired it. The gear reduction units I have seen from a variety of vendors appear to be the same.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

no shims needed, just bolt it in and connect the wires

Hi AJ,
Mine bolted right on. No problems at all. George
