Carb Installation Questions

Post by seabeelt »

OK, So I have read most everything I can find on the Forum and elsewhare regarding the installation and tuning of dual IDFs... but....
My setup would be a set of 13/15s 40 IDF for the 1608 questions pertainto all of the fuel and other hoses.

Current carb has a fuel "IN" line and and a "return" and a fuel "vapor" line.
Top of the fuel sending unit has two lines one to the pump and the other I assume coming back from the carb "return"
Then we have the three to one vapor collection that runs up to the carb, I assume for emmissions.

First question - after filter, pump, regulator to carb(s) - have a return line or not, and if not, just plug the return line to the tank?

Second question - 13/15s have no emmissions/vacuum ports - plug the vapor line too?

Third Question - If you plug the above two lines, what about tank pressure - equalization - Is it from the tank vent hose that returns near the fill pipe?.

Sorry for all the seemingly obvious questions, I just dont want to hook things up and have it like trying to suck a balloon inside out.

You know measure thrice, cut once type planning :)

you will have to vent the tank. if not the fuel flowing from the take will eventually implode the tank :), seriously, it will stop the flow from fuel from the tank. i run the vapor line to the front under the hood, then vent it into the air, put a small filter on it and go. unless you wish to run the whole evap system, which there is nothing wrong with. the fuel return can be plugged. with a mechanical pump. if you are using an electric pump as long as it makes no more than 3 psi, you can do the same. i prefer to just run the fuel return line, it only comes from 1 carb in the setup.
