I just noticed that I am missing the front bolt that joins the intake manifold to the block on my '76. Looks like it's a M8 x 1.25, but I don't know the length. What is the length of this bolt?
...and would this missing bolt by any chance be the source of the oil leak in the vicinity?
Thanks.

Re: Intake manifold bolt
Thanks Beek.
I'll head to the hardware store tomorrow once I know the size of the bolt.
The oil appears to be coming out between the head and the block, but only in that corner (front, intake side). I checked the torque on the head bolts--all are okay (56 ft-lbs according to Haynes). I plan to clean the engine and watch for oil leaks to pinpoint the source.

Jerry, how is that leak going? I had an oil leak between the head and the block that expanded into also leaking radiator fluid. Head gasket was failing.

Re: Intake manifold bolt
Well, thanks for asking WYSpider.
I agree that a new head gasket will likely fix the leak.
The car isn't being used now... I want to fix these leaks before running again. I purchased all new gaskets and seals. I want to replace the seals, but I'm having a heckuva time trying to remove the crankshaft nut with the engine in the car.
The plan now is to pull the engine in the fall and get the body repaired and painted over the winter. I plan to replace all seals and gaskets with the engine out. I'll look into getting the head done while its off.
I also purchased new A-arms and bushings. Lots of work to be done once my sons are back in school!
Even though I'm not running, I still visit this forum nearly every day.
