IDF air filters

Having never owned a set of these before. A couple of questions. First an explanation. I have 3 different air filter sets that came with my purchase. A square set with an fiber filter and flat top, an oval set with a fiber filter and a flat top, and an oval set with a foam/wire top. The carb also have the factory double air horn plate. Question is, how do you mount the air filters? They all have holes in the bottom to go over the studs and horns. Are spacers required on the studs to get the correct mounting height of the filters, or do the filters mount directly to the carb. (Horns interfere with the tops of all of the filters in this scenario)? Anyone have pictures perhaps?
