Drivers side alternator mounting?

Post by 131 »

Well, your drivers side anyway! All OZ DOHC 131s I've seen have the alternator on the exhaust side. From looking at the pictures in this thread:

The alternator mount as part of the oil filter housing would solve my issue of getting room for a turbo by moving the alternator to the intake side. Do all US spiders have have the alternator on the intake side?

Mick,

The left (intake) side alternator line up with the middle crankshaft groove on a 3 groove crank pulley.
The exhaust side alternator lines up with the rear groove. Of course the WP pulley is different too, so be sure you get all the parts for the conversion.
Here in the US the crank nose and timing belt gear also changed in early 1977 when the alternator was moved to the intake side. Millers Mule makes custom crank pulleys so you can mix and match what you need.

Looks like with a bit of modification I could make the alternator run on the rear pulley, instead of chasing different pulleys. Why does postage out of the US cost so much, I could post that piece from here to the US for about half that?
