How to get pictures
Ppl who dont have a camera Here's the solution :
be sure dont to ride over 260 m/h , otherwise your picture wont be taken
Experience does learn me its cheaper to get the latest Canon , then buying a picture from the governement
Do you guys have the same irritating "birdhouses" in the states (or wherever you are ?)
Whe have already 1500 here in the flemisch part of Belgium (+-6 milion ppl) alone every year 250 new ones will be placed , in our provence there are 250 of these

Re: How to get pictures
many cities were using cameras to take pictures of people who ran red lights but they wised up and found it cost more money to keep them maintained than the revenue they generated.

Of course that only applies to states where the bureaucrats can do the math!

lots of cities in Cali have them, and I don't have a problem with them for red light runners. I've nearly been hit several times by people that just blast thru a red. Now if they start using them for speeding I'll protest

Re: How to get pictures
Speed cameras are endemic in Victoria, Oz. We have both the fixed variety and mobile units. The State Government treat them as revenue earners and often comes under criticism for their placement, lack of accuracy and zero tolerance attitude when car speedometers are allowed up to a 10% error.
There was a famous case a couple of years ago of a Datsun 120Y (Sunny) clocked doing 160+ km/h in a 100 zone. The young girl driving took them to task claiming that her car was incapable of such speeds. A TV program took her car to a race track with a race driver and he could only manage 120 km/h or so. Needless to say the case was thrown out of court and thousands of drivers who had been caught on the same stretch of freeway had their fines refunded. Nobody here has any respect for the accuracy of these things and it's a real political hot potato. But they keep fining people for trival offences. The pic below was taken of my Bugeye Sprite, It was claimed I was doing 65 km/h in a 60 zone. The fine was AU$140 or so and the loss of 1 demerit point. I was confident that I was sitting on the speed limit, but it's not worth the hassle of taking it to court, so people just pay up. You are allowed 9 points in a year or 12 over a 3 year period before you have your licence suspended. If clocked at more than 30km/h over the speed limit, your licence is also suspended. It's becoming very much a twisted Police State where drivers are the criminals.

Re: How to get pictures
hmm, isn't driving a car with a number just sort of asking for extra scrutiny? Kind of like waving a red flag at a bull. Not that I'm in favor of a police state in any form whatsoever!!! I know that's just asking to get pulled over here

Re: How to get pictures
That photo was taken on an automated speed camera, and unless the radar is capable of detecting competition numbers I don't believe they would have made any difference. Actually, I've never been pulled over in this car for any offence, the only time it's ever been pulled over was by a pair of coppers who were more interested in what it was than for any other reason. So Cal Mark wrote:hmm, isn't driving a car with a number just sort of asking for extra scrutiny? My AC coupe also gets around with sponsorship signage and is an obvious competition car, but once again without any hassle from the cops. They've got their hands full taking the young blokes' hotted up street sedans off the road under our new 'Hoon Driver' legislation that allows them to impound cars found street racing, doing burnouts or anything other than driving as per the road rules.
I'm glad these weren't in force 30 years ago.

Alright, I'll bite ... what are Michigan Lefts; Jug Handles?
Re: How to get pictures
haha, michigan lefts are this weird u-turn on roads for use when you can't make a left turn.
So you make a right turn and then use the michigan left to turn around and head the way you wanted to go
(correct me if I'm wrong)

Re: How to get pictures
Yep, you got it right. It should be noted that Mapquest can't be used in Michigan either. The first time Ron and I went up for the FFO, we end up making several illegal left turns. Thankfully it was 4:00 in the morning so not too many people were out and about.
