You don't have to drain the rear diff to pull the driveshaft. It disconnects at the universal. I had the center support bearing and carrier and the universals done by a local driveshaft shop easy peasy. Charged me $50 bucks I think, plus the parts I supplied. I didn't do the guibo on mine, it was fine.
Course you might as well change the rear diff oil along the way if you haven't done it yet. That's easy too.With the body jacked up the diff is low enough that I could get a smallish funnel with a piece of clear tube attached up there. Hardly spilled a drop.

That's good to know. I imagined that there was a seal on the end of the diff and a plunging spline on the end of the driveshaft. I'll just do the diff and trans fluids anyway while I'm doing it all. I recall reading another thread that, IIRC, said something to the effect that Redline MT90 is suitable for one or the other - fortunate, as I have 4 or 5 liters of the stuff just lying around.
