Smaller water pump pulley
Do they make a smaller water pump pulley for a 2000 carbureted spider? My engine seems to run hot at lower rpms. Thanks

Re: Smaller water pump pulley
then you have another problem. Changing the pulley is a band-aid not a cure

Re: Smaller water pump pulley
water pump speed and impeller design are calculated by the mfg to avoid cavitation. If you change pulley size you may create a problem at higher rpms. Usually, overheating at low rpm/speed is caused by air flow issues not lack of circulation

Just because I have your exhaust header installed; I will believe you Mark. Do you recommend upgrading the fan? I currently have a 1970 spider stock fan?
If so which one?

Re: Smaller water pump pulley
the stock fans pull quite a bit of air. When you say hot running, what temps are we talking about?

My Water Temp Gauge goes straight up to high, then level offs if I go faster. I'm constantly checking the temp when on the streets but doing great on the freeways.

Re: Smaller water pump pulley
can you accurately check the temp? It may be the black sending unit in the head causing a false reading
Re: Smaller water pump pulley
"Straight up to high" Straight up on my gauge is about 190. Does your gauge read diff?? Rather than "high" what temp is it reading??
It's normal for temp to come up at idle.

Re: Smaller water pump pulley
Thanks for the help guys. There something strange going on w my fiat. The bottom hose is cool while the top hose is hot. But after I let it run for 10 mins; turn off the car and wait 1 minute. Then Turn on the car, both hoses are hot and everything is dandy. Temp guage is 190ish and stabilizes around there. Maybe I'll bleed the system or get a new thermostat.

Re: Smaller water pump pulley
That sounds normal to me.. The lower hose will stay cool until the thermostat opens.. If you only let it run 10 minutes, it might not open, but as you're letting it sit, it finally heats up enough from the residual heat, and it opens up.
