Re: price of gas
we hit $1.21/litre here in Toronto Canada, but I hear it was $1.35 in Montreal (about 400km away)
so that would make it $4.58 a gallon
so that would make it $4.58 a gallon
Re: price of gas
the lowest i've seen this week was $3.62 / U.S. gallon. it fluctuates near daily.

Re: price of gas
Here on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, it is:
$1.27 per litre for 87 octane: $5.46 Canadian per Imperial Gallon, or $4.29 US per US Gallon
$1.32 per litre for 89 octane: $5.68 Canadian per Imperial Gallon, or $4.46 US per US Gallon
(Can't bear to look at the 91)
The old truck ('76 Chev Silverado with a 454 ) is only used to pick up big stuff, and I'm thinking of insuring the '86 Renault again (45 mpg on the highway).

Re: price of gas
I'm curious as to how much of the cost for gas is taxes, in Canada, Belgium, etc. In the US, or more specifically, California, the taxes are posted at the pump, so the info is readily available. I found the following link that explains the breakdown of the price for gas in California: http://www.energy.ca.gov/gasoline/margins/index.html
As of April 21, the numbers run as follows (US$ per US gallon):
Crude Oil 2.80
Refining and Marketing .39
Taxes and regulatory fees .67
Total 3.86
I'm guessing that a larger portion of the price goes to government taxes in Canada, Belgium, etc. than in USA.

Re: price of gas
About US$1.45 per litre for the regular 91 octane stuff Down Under.
I also just bought a 20 Litre drum of 105 octane unleaded racing fuel and it set me back US$104.00. Thats US$5.20 per litre. Good thing I'm not racing a V8.

Re: price of gas / petrol
Here's a breakdown of the cost factors for petrol Down Under. The Government is actually double-dipping by charging a 10% Goods & Services tax on the combined costs which already includes an Excise Tax. A tax on a tax no less
Refined Petrol
47%
Excise Tax
39%
Retail/Wholesale margins and Freight

Re: price of gas
a small bottle of water---29cts by the case at a bulk store, $1-$2 retail
a pint of beer-------------$3-$4 domestic, $5 imported
cup of coffee at Starbucks-$2 unless you start adding stuff, then up to $5 or so
almost makes the ridiculously priced gas seem reasonable

Re: price of gas
87 octane is $3.50 in my area with diesel being $4.20. I've been trying to conserve by driving slower and taking less trips but I had to use the Suburban with the 454 to haul some stuff and half a tank cost $70. Of course, that's still better than pulling the F350 diesel out of hibernation.

Re: price of gas
I'm with you on the Suburban, I had to use mine to tow a car last weekend. $60 for 15 gals
Re: price of gas
Here in Palm Beach County we are thankful if you find 87 octaine under $3.70 a gal. It cost $750.00 to top off the tank in the boat to take my Dad and his friends fishing Monday. My Suburban I use to tow the boat to the water seamed remarkably fuel effcient after that. However I seam to be driving my Fiat a lot more now.
Re: price of gas
Now if you could weld a prop to the back axle and seal up the doors on the Spider, you could drive and fish in the same vehicle.
