Tried reparking our spider today a foot over in the garage to get more room for opening my daily driver's door...but the spider won't start! Looking for ideas what the cause might be...
Starter cranks fine, engine fires with it but as soon as I let off the key, the engine dies. Gas pedal has no response in the engine reaction. Battery is fine. Weather is rainy and upper 50s. Wife drove the car yesterday, and a few days earlier. I know I heard a similar broom-silence...wait.....brooom-silence....wait... a few times in a row when she started it a few days ago. But, it eventually started with some extra gas pedal. Weather was either a bit overcast or sunny then, also upper 50s. Didn't hear any complaints from her/the car yesterday.
I drove it to work once last week, and it started fine (no added gas pedal) at ~ 6am in lower 50s % low humidity. No issues with the morning drive. Started fine after my shift ended, and no real issues getting home. There was a few moments when I was wondering if the old specter of the bad idle was returning, but I may be paranoid with listening to the engine noise and the vibration feel.

Are you out of gas Does sound like a fuel issue. maybe the cold start injector is not working. When was the last time you replaced your fuel filter.

sounds like it's only running on the cold start injector for a moment. It could be an ignition switch issue

Wife filled up on ethanol-free gas last week. Fuel filter was replaced...about 1,000 miles (two years?) ago.
We had an issue with the ignition switch connector a year ago and the local euro car repair shop rewired most things via direct connections instead of replacing it (the original had melted over time). I don't trust that shop because some new issue ALWAYS pops up after we take the car there, even a few new dents that I didn't notice until after too long to complain and blame them.
From the shop receipt: "Remove ignition switch and under dash harness to gain access to wiring. Remove damaged factory connectors. Hard wire all ignition switch connections and re-install."

Problem one solved: I got the spider started by really stepping on the gas while turning the key. It stayed running, so I reparked a foot over. A lot easier to open the door on the 500.
Problem two not solved: Why is the startup an issue now...
