I am going to tackle these things starting tonight I have all new parts, lines. I will (as always) take photos. Before I start I wanted to confirm some things. Disconnect battery, when removing either pump or filter is there any do's or don't's (one before the other) do I need to worry about air getting in the lines etc?
As always, any comments or advice is always welcomed and appreciated
Jay

Re: Fuel filter, fuel pump and gas lines oh my
Jay, I did this not too long ago.....
I pulled the intake line off the fuel tank and ran the car until it quit.....I didn't get much fuel dripping when I cut the lines underneath the car. I didn't know about relieving pressure in the line (vacuum line on the pressure regulator trick), so when I opened the line I did get some hissing fuel.
Cutting the lines lengthwise over the barbs/metal lines made removal easy.
Since I didn't have the proper pump/filter mounts when I dis-assembled, re-installation took a couple of attempts to get the lines cut to the proper lengths. Be sure to use your old ones as a pattern (assuming the new parts' dimensions are the same).
From an earlier post:
"I am loving Ebay! I bought the fuel pump and filter brackets and covers as well as new rubber mounts. The job took longer than I anticipated (that's seems to be the norm...) I used an exacto knife to cut the hoses where they ran over the hose fittings. They removed very easily. I had to refit the pump and filter a few times, trial and error, until the covers fit properly. Pushing the hoses from under the car, into the trunk seemed to work best. Lithium grease made the hoses install easier over the metal fuel lines, just hard to get the grip to get the hoses seated.
New Mann fuel filter, WK830/7.
For those on the forum thinking of doing this. It takes 3 feet of 3/8 hose to run from the fuel tank to the pump. I bought 10 feet of 1/4 inch hose for all the other lines, including the charcoal canister line. With the exception of the 3 lines that run from the tank to the common vapor connector, I replaced all vapor, feed and return lines at the rear of the car. I will need approximately 2 more feet of 1/4 to change out those 3 vapor lines."

Re: Fuel filter, fuel pump and gas lines oh my
Thanks Warren
Currenty I parked her last night running on fumes (gas light has been on for a while) I will have a catch basin just in case.
I am going to start with just the filter tonight. (have fuel pump cover coming from a fellow forum member).
Measure twice, cut once gotcha
Won't the Lithium grease potentially clog up the lines?
Already did my vapor lines a while back
Looking forward to after work

I generally use WD 40 to make slipping hoses over lines easier. LIthiium would likely work too, and no, since it's not inside line, nothing should clog, and you should just use enough to get it wet, not gob it on anyway.

Re: Fuel filter, fuel pump and gas lines oh my
Sooooooooooo was just going to replace the fuel filter when all of a sudden SNAP the fuel pump plastic nozzle broke (SOB). Luckily I had all my parts and did both. I'll post some photos later. My new pump had the same size opening on both sides So through the Fiat Gods miracle I was able to make the 1/4 hose fit onto the 3/8 tank nozzle Now for the best part. Put all the tools away, Cleaned my hands, arms. Lowered Fiona and got to turn the key and .......................VROOM she started instantly Another job crossed off the list.
Thanks everybody
