Some of the minor repairs to the new 71 included installing new door lugs. This helped with the alignment, but I'm still having issues with the doors feeling and looking like they are fully closed. The door closes and you can hear the latch click. The door does not open when you pull on it but there is movement outwards of up to 3/8 of an inch and the doors are visually not in line with the body. This happens on both sides, but is more pronounced on the drivers side. There is some movement of the door catch attached to the door and it needs a new bolt to tighten it up, but this does not account for all of the play in the door. The passenger door does the same, but the door latch is tight in the door itself. Soooo the question is, Are the door lock strikers adjustable? Or do I need new ones to hold the door securely amd firmly closed? Or is there some other problem? Any thoughts/comments would be most appreciated.

Re: Door latch and striker question
most door latches have an intermediate stage where they only half open. If the latch pin is not adjusted, it will hit this intermediate stage. The latch pin in the door sill is adjustable. There should also be shims behind the latch pin. If those arent in place, you can get rubbing. you can actually see this mechanism work if you remove the door seal and watch the door close thru the gap on the inside.

Re: Door latch and striker question
So I would be adjusting the mechanism in the door, or adjusting the catch mounted to the body?

the door mechanism in not adjustable. If you are missing a screw there, fix that first. It is the jam piece that is adjustable. the screws have floating nuts and oversized holes. just loosen the screws a little and you can slide it around.
Get some good spray lube and lube up the door mechanism to make sure that moves easily.
