Hi guys - this is for my '74. I am trying to dial-out my 2000 RPM fast idle once warm issue.
She'll start and idle without choke (but with lots of cranking). She has a manual choke - that I now know about thanks to you guys.
Once warm the idle stays above 2000 RPM. I do not have throttle stop or sticky choke cable issues that I can see, everything moves freely.
So - to my newbie Weber ears - it seems like I'm too rich and that is why she'll start without choke and then runs at too high an RPM once warm. Yes/no?
Looking through the manuals I can find it appears I need to adjust this screw (once warmed up) to bring the idle back down to the correct level.
Am I on the right track here?

Re: Adjusting out a fast idle
I believe that the red arrow is pointing to the idle mixture control -- not the idle speed screw. On my car I have a 32/36 DFEV carb. I first set the idle mixture using a vacuum gauge to achieve the highest reading (about 18 psi) turning the mixture screw in (lean) until the vacuum goes down, then I turn the mixture screw out (rich) to again reach maximum vacuum. That is the sweet spot. Once the mixture is set then I adjust the idle speed screw to get between 850 - 900 rpm. Hope this helps.

Re: Adjusting out a fast idle
THe ilde speed screw is on the firewall side of carb. THe green arrow is pointing to a idle up device, that raises the idle when shifting tween gears. If you unplug it with engine running sitting still it should not make any diff. If it does lower idle, something wrong.
Just looked at a carb, the ilde SPEED screw is under the device with the green arrow. It is pointed same direction as idle mix screw (red arrow) and about an inch towards the firewall, can't miss it.
Get idle down, then worry about mixture.
