Computronix Timing

So, I might be over thinking this but, for those of you who have checked the advance timing for the Computronix DIS at 3,000 RPM and 33-35 degrees BTDC, per the instructions....did you just eyeball it or should I be digging out a protractor or something. Also, since it is installed at 12 degrees BTDC, the 850rpm idle should remain at about 12 after installation right??

I can just turn the unit a little while running to make any adjustments like usual, right??

Car's running tons better with this unit but I'm in a fine tuning stage now and the sum total of these little things matter.

The idle speed will have to be adjusted to keep the 850rpm unless your timing was set at 12btdc previously. The unit has 20 degrees of advance, so there isn't really a need to check it at full advance. We set the initial timing at 12-15btdc depending on the particulars of the engine. You can set the timing by turning the trigger unit while running, but be aware that an advance-style timing light is only accurate at idle speed. Because of the waste spark, the advance feature of the timing light won't work properly
