Max RPM?

Post by Kevin1 »

What is a safe maximum RPM for a stock FI 2.0? I normally run it up to between 4500 and 5000 before shifting but in a moment of curiosity let it really run out in 2nd and 3rd gear. To my surprise it pulled cleanly past 6,500, smoothly, and the exhaust note was great! The tach puts the redline pretty low. Is it safe to run it up this fast since it certainly seems willing and happy doing it?

i have run stock components, stock rods, rod bolts, crankshaft, borgo stock type 9.8-1 pistons, aftermarket cams, aftermarket springs (which i eventually broke a spring, never seen a stock spring fail) 7500+ for hours on end without a component failure
