First - I did look for markings so not being totally lazy
Is this a 34DMSA?
Second - is this my idle adjustment screw? Basically from cold she starts and idles around 600 RPM, but when hot she races at 2000 RPM. Don't think it is my manual choke keeping the RPMs from dropping becuase otherwise it would do that from cold idle.
Thanks!

That screw is the idle MIXTURE screw.
Nope, that plate does not cover or replace any part of choke.

Thanks Keith

Choke should be manual, Is there a cable going to the side of the carb, closest to the firewall?

Re: Three (was two) newbie carb quesitons
Hi guys - good to be back and poking at the Spider again.
George - no stamping there, just some scratches.
My choke cable attaches to the throttle as it is currently set up - I could just about drive the car around using the choke cable instead of the accelerator. When the choke is engaged the pedal actually travels down to the floor. Maybe my British cars have me flummoxed here, but this can't be right. Can it?

Some of these Fiat have a throttle CABLE down by the choke cable that will run the throttle just like the gas pedal. Is there another cable on the other side of column??

Holy cow I'm a dolt, never saw it there Keith. My TR6 / MGC don't have a throttle cable like that so I assumed it was a poor Italian translation.
