Crankcase Breather & Dipstick Blowout?

Beek, as you know, on accell, it will blow oil all over the place! On decell/engine braking, it will suck air IN past the seals.

Crankcase "volume" has nothing to do with it. Not sure I understand reference to volume.

The crankcase volume is all the open space within the block,oil pan,and cylinder heads. The reason that has something "to do with it" is that it is the area the pcv is trying to evacuate. From the stand point of engine life the pcv function is the only reason modern engines don't sludge up like earlier engines with road draft tubes or simple breathers. That reason alone is why modern engines can easily go 200k miles.

Yes there is a way. If you look on the driver side of the block you will see a big hose going to the air cleaner. Although some are disconnected from the air cleaner and a breather is installed. The ones with oil dripping out of them are because of a plugged blanking disc assembly on the throttle shaft. In other words no pcv.

I know very well the big hose. I also know what volume is. Re-read my post, there is no way for air to flow thru a fiat engine. In a chev for example, the air enters one valve cover, FLOWS THRU THE CRANKCASE and out the other valve cover. No such flow thru on a fiat.

hi just read this post after 18 yrs of ownership i have a story
after the seperator bowl the big hose runs up to the carb
mine got soft and kinked,oil pushed out the dizzy and spilled on the headder and i was james bond with a bonafied
SMOKE SCREEN.my mecanic put a brake line inside to keep the shape
that was 12yrs ago.since i rebuilt the dizzy,wrapped the headder replaced the carb and about a dozen other fixes
i still need to replace that hose
