Hello,
Trying to dial in my carb on my '67 and could use some help. My plugs are white as paper and I am getting pinging if I push the accelerator down too far at lower RPMs and around 3K RPM during steady acceleration. The pinging seems to go away if I completely floor it.
I have tried putting in a colder plug, backing off timing and going up an idle jet size ( 45->50 ). The larger idle jet seemed to help a little but did not solve it.
So I am not too clear where to go next, air corrector jets? E tubes? Main Jet?

My guess wold be main jets. What is your jetting now?
Also what is the static timing and max advance?

Re: 32 DMSA tuning
Thanks for the response.
I'll have to check the main jets, will do that tomorrow night and report back.
This is an 1197cc OHV engine bored +1mm with the Lancia electronic block mounted dizzy. The stock advance curves I could find looked about the same @3K rpm.
Static timing is set to 5 BTDC, vac advance is hooked up. I tried pulling it back to 0 deg with no vac advance and it all behaved the same.
I'm also running 93 octane.

Re: 32 DMSA tuning
OK! Pulled the jets and saw
Primary BBL
110 Main jet
185 air corrector
Secondary BBL
134 Main jet
180 air corrector ( could be 160, hard to see )
110 seems REALLY small but I have always owned engines much larger than this.
I was driving this evening and noticed pulling the choke on did help reduce the pinging. Also seems like the pinging goes away at or near WOT but its difficult to hear.

Re: 32 DMSA tuning
Try larger main jets. 115 and 120 were stock size jets, so they should be easy to find used.
