Oil leak near cyl#4

Post by gionetz »

Hello (again), I am hoping that my "fairly bad" oil issue may be a simple fix? I put a web-cam near the leak to see what I could find, I have read that the manifold bolt for cyl#4 goes into an oil-well,...does this look like a possible bolt issue? http://youtu.be/q2i-MPT3JNQ - (btw this video was right after degreasing and spraying off with water) Before I check on it, I was wondering if someone knew how far the threads "should" go into the engine, then I will remove the bolt, measure and replace propererly. Thanks again, love the help I've been getting here!!! :D

I took the stud out today and saw that it is threaded on each end and then tapers up in the middle. I put it back in and it didn't "feel" right to me...I called IAP and they said there wasn't a torque noted for this? - I tightened it up but, I feel like, I could have stripped it if I went any further like it never "stopped". I tightened the nut really tight on the manifold. Any suggestions are welcomed!! Thanks!

I used a little Teflon tape on the threads yesterday to stop a exhaust manifold bolt from leaking water. Worked like a champ. I would do the same for your oil leak if it were me.

Thanks, I put a little loc-tite on it today, if I have to pull it out again, I will try the tape!
