Timing
If the battery is not mounted up in the engine bay, I would just run the hot side of my timing light off the battery right

any solid +12v in the engine bay should work. starter lug, input wire to the alt, B+ on the coil. If all this makes you nervous, make yourself a long jumper you can run from the battery to the timing light. crimp an alligator clip on one end for the battery. The wire size can be small, like 18 awg

I connect the ground to one of the ground pods and the hot to the hot terminal on the alternator. A little awkward but it works.

I bought a 12VDC cigarette lighter adapter plug w/ leads from Radio Shack and spliced it into the timing light power cord ...
