Radiator Fan question?

Post by tanau »

Hi Guys,

Awhile back I had heard a rumor that the Volvo electric fan also fits '78 Spider. I don't know if that is true and if it is, what model of Volvo was it (740, 850?). I remembered seeing some Volvo fans that were round and about 3" thick. The Volvo's shroud added a couple of more inches.

I know they do have an Aftermarket fan but has anyone found a used fan that works, and more importantly maximize the cooling using the 65w alternator. Certainly don't want a fan that suck all of the power off the engine either.

Thanks Guys, Tan

A whole lot of people including myself have put the slim electric fans in there that you can pick up at almost any auto parts store. I think the most common is the 13". They draw less amps, cool better and take up less space. New unit cost in the $35 - $40 range. Not sure how much you would pay for a used unit from another make/model?
