Timing

Post by fiat218 »

I have a 79 124 2.0. Dual carbs
Timing is off but when I time it by ear it runs great, excellerates quick and no popping
But when I shut it off ,it has a hard time turning over, prolly to advance
I have marks ignition set up,
What shall I do

Retard the timing a bit a little at a time till you get good power and easy starting.

Have you checked static timing on the crank and cam gears? If you can confirm this is correct, I would time it to 10 degrees BTC... if you have a timing light.

DUH!

just kidding Jim

But seriously how does it run with Marks system? I am very interested in that setup, particularly any increase in rev/power.
