Hey,
Re-ringed, rebuilt the head and converted my 1197cc OHV engine to use a timing belt. For the belt conversion I used some DOHC bits and I suspect that the cam setup is too retarded. I have great top end, horrible idle, lots of pinging and chronically low idle manifold pressure. (10-15Hg)
I have a degree wheel and would like to check the setup. From what I can find the stock cams are 25-59/65-19.
If I am reading things right this means that:
- intake opens 25 degrees before TDC and closes 59 after BDC
- exhaust opens 65 degrees before BDC and closes 19 after TDC
Does anyone know what valve clearance this is measured with? The numbers 25-59/65-19 seem crazy when compared to the the settings for the much larger 2L DOHC of 5-53/53-5.

Re: Reading and Measuring Fiat Cam Specs
My Sedan shop manual says it's measured at 0.024" (0.60mm) clearance.
However, it also says the timing is 19-48 59-8. If you email me I can scan the relevant pages for you.
