the pad you need to take a picture of is above the oil filter housing, not the motor mount. thats where the id number is on your engine. if you had 2 exhaust cams you would have a distributor drive gear on the cam too. but i have seen pullies with multiple holes drilled in them, the ones in your pictures are aftermarket.

looking at your oem pulley with 2 holes in it, i would assume someone was changing the camshaft center line

Thanks Beek, yes both locations show no numbers, strange I know:

Your right about the gear and I checked - no gear on intake. So then what is this cam? The pullies off my 1800 line up perfect and that engine ran fine. But when I put them on this 2.0 head its sets it almost 180 out.

1800 and 2000 as well as 1438 and 1608 all can use the same pullies. it is weird that there is no number, all i can think of is its a replacement engine. but the ones i have installed had numbers

that may be an aftermarket cam. but if it was a lancia cam, they are exactly the same as a fiat

Well the engine got turned over several times with it out of phase 180 but I don't see any marks on the vavles as to it ever hitting a piston. I guess If I reassemble and install the other pulley that was on there we should be good to go. What gasket do I need for the head a 2.0 or 1800 one. Thanks Brian

but i would like to see the top of your head, if you have a 2.0 head on that 1.8 bottom end, you will have less than 8.0-1 compression, thus will make a real pig.. you need a 1.8 head and small valve relief pistons at minimum.. i know fiat supplied the late 1800's with deep valve reliefs but it did lower the compression. it will work the way it is , it just wont be any kind of performance, as compression is what really wakes up these motors

the valves will never hit those pistons...ever.. the worst thing that can happen is the valves collide with each other

Was looking at the felpro 2.0 head set just so Id have some extra gaskets. They talk it up as having permaseal yada yada. Any recommendations? Yes I was concerned about the power when I thought they stuck the head on a 1600. So maybe a bit better now but not ideal. I think If I keep the car I want to find a 2.0 block to build with the higher compression pistons and swap it over. If I can get away with just putting a head gasket on it and see how it runs I think it would revive my attitude :) .

Was doing some research and seems the Goetze may be the same as the Felpro :

A real Goetze head gasket is probably still the best choice. Fel Pro (Federal
Mogul) markets them in the U.S. under their own name. Widely available. $17 at

What would be better to use the 2.0 head on this 1800 or swap my whole spare engine in and swap the FI over to the 1800 head? my spare engine reads 132ac040 0305187

SLO:

I don't have the know how to help you with your head/valve timing issues

But, what you do for me is, motivate me to get through my more minor issues. For that, I thank you. :D
