Isn't the 2L block a bit higher/taller than the 1800? The timing belts are different.
I think you had a 1800,perhaps measure the block only height on each.

aCheck and see if you can clean off all the old paint and grime above the oil filter housing. Should see a flat area there to get your numbers to verify what block you have. Be just like in my pics put with numbers

I believe you have a 2l block. My 81 2L (all original with matching numbers) has the same casting on the block as yours but it has 132C3.031 stamped on the block above intake side motor mount area (not above oil filter housing). This engine series indicates a California FI 2L.

My 79 2L has the same casting. I can't read the stamped numbers on mine either, but because it's coated with 2mm of grease/oil/dirt.

Just measured the two blocks I have on stands.... 1.8L...26.9cms
and the 2L was 28.2 cms measured best I could with a builders tape about 1 cm difference..
2 L block has 132 AC cast and the 1.8 has 131 AB cast in it.

Well I got some work done today. Pullies and timing belt back on . Front cover and lower intake on. New motor mounts, plugs, wires, installed my rebuilt distributor. Im going to relocate the coil to right side fender well so I don't have to lengthen the pickup coil wires and find a longer coil wire. I don't know why they didn't put it over there anyways.

Tomorrow will be installing longer wires for coil remount. drill holes and mount coil unit. get a reducer for return fuel line that goes from 7.5mm to the 1/4 inch or so return line. This to fix the double clamp and hope it doesn't leak approach they used. Install radiator, hoses, trans mount and reinstall driveline. Also need to try and drain old gas, replace wrong rubber lines, clamps and fuel filter. Blow out the steel lines to gas tank, cant seem to find my air blower nozzle .

Oh also found a nice hot lead to the coil they made loner by a butt connector then wrapped in FOIL against the fire wall WTH.

A few things have me puzzled on this engine:

Timing mark is on the passenger side even though Im told my crank pulley is a early style for the T-belt. Would the 2.0 front pulley have been installed or was the 73's timed from the rh side?

There was a capacitor bolted to the radiator and connected to one of the wires going to the fan. I haven't seen this before and don't know if its needed?

Exhaust manifold does not have any studs to mount a heat shield to?

Dip stick goes straight into block. Would like to get the tube style but don't know if they will fit.

the block numbers on my 80 2L Fi match yours. even the number above is a match. I pretty sure my motor was the original with the car. My guess is someone put an early exhaust manifold on the car. Count the number of bolts on the exhaust end. Don't know what to say about the capacitor. Maybe it was kicking off some RFs everytime it turned on. I just got rid of my long tube for a short stick. the rubber matched, so you should be able to install a long stick. I removed mine because i installed a computronix ignition and it interfered.

Thanks for the replies but that 132ac engine is rodmans not mine. Mine is the 132AC cast. Saw a 2.0 exhaust manifold on Ebay and was different than mine but mine also has an O2 Sensor in it?

IF YOUR EXHAUST MANIFOLD HAS A O2 SENSOR IN IT , IT IS FROM A EFI 2.0
