Brake booster/master cylinder line

There is a rubber line wrapped in fabric that runs from the master cylinder to the booster in my '78, it looks like about an 8mm or 5/16 line with hose clamps at each end. No parts shop or hose shop in Phoenix has any rubber style hose rated for brake fluid. Does anyone know of a hose I can ask for that will work for this application? I would like to find it locally so I don't have to pay more in shipping than the line costs. Thanks!

The only hoses that runs off the master cylinder go to the reservoir for the brake fluid. The other hose is 14mm and is vacuum that connects from the booster to the intake. Which one is it? You can get the vacuum line anywhere just need to find the right size even half inch should work. If its the brake fluid line then you should check with some import repair places. Anywhere that works on older MBZ, VW's, imports will probably have this in stock. Otherwise any Fiat vendor will have all the hoses you will need in stock to order.

Thanks for the info, I look more closely tonight, they're probably both in need of replacement anyway.

I discovered it is the two lines going to the brake reservoir that are cracked and look like they're about to fall off. Has anyone replaced these with hard or stainless lines? can the fittings be changed for hardline fittings?

No the can not be changed unless you want to reinvent the wheel The plastic nipples that go in the master are in a rubber grommet and the reservoir end are plastic nipples too. Best thing I was thinking is to see about a master cylinder that would go directly on top like most cars have. I haven't had that kind of time to try and track down what would work though. Best think is just get some new rubber line and it will last another 10-30 years. Im replacing mine as I had a leak.

The size you need is a 7mm but rated for brake fluid.
