Missing
Missing
I have a 1982 and this morning it was running really rough. It has been raining the past couple of days so I thought it might just be a little wet so I left it to dry out and took my other car. Sure enough when I got home it started and ran just fine. So I assume that something got a little wet and then once dry it worked just fine. What is the most likely item? Spark plug wires? Distributor cap?
Re: Missing
Moisture under the dist cap with a point type ign system is quite common especialy if the cap and rotor are older. Try spraying the outside of the cap with some WD 40, it displaces moisture that can short out the plug wires.
Re: Missing
So they look a little old, I think I will just replace the whole thing and then not have to worry when it rains.

Re: Missing
Perhaps pop the cap and have a look inside. While you're at it check the wires from the pick up.(pop rotor off) They get old,dry and brittle and will give you grief with intermittent stoppages ect. If there is signs of wear, swap the components out.
