1969 Spider won't start (no click of solenoid)

unbolting the starter may allow it to drop far enough to get your hand in there. worth a try.

Get yourself another spade the same size as on the solenoid and pry the female connector open slightly ,try the fit until you are happy with the way it goes on and that it is snug. Then try it on the solenoid again.

Uggh!

The car is still sitting on ramps, and I am getting so frustrated with it. I can't figure out the best way to do this starter repair, let alone just testing it -- I stupidly pulled the top wire out and now I can't get it back in. There is really no clearance from underneath or atop for me to get that little positive female spade connector back on to the top connector of the solenoid.

I was going to try the suggestion of unbolting the starter, but the third (top) bolt seems impossible to get access to from underneath, and it's also inaccessible from the top, so I don't see a way to remove it without taking a lot of other parts out. And I still am not even sure if the problem was related to a connection, or the actual solenoid malfunctioning.

I wonder if this is worth trying to do on my own, or if I should bring it to a shop...If anyone knows of any tricks, I'd love to hear them!
