Thanks,
I was worried that a SERIOUS dust and dirt storm had hit your shop!
I feel much better now,

Ain't all that bad. My friend Cornell at Reliable Motors in Costa Mesa gave me a couple old style dipsticks to try and this one worked best. Just have to re-index it ... a little wet 'cause the stock one was "floating" for a while.

Much better than a tacky bracket ....

I am considering installing the computronic unit but this alternator bracket mod seems a bit bogus. I would install on my 71 1608 - will I have this problem? Are there any simpler alternatives? Any feedback much appreciated.

Don't know for sure, but isn't the alternator on the passenger side on a '71?

I installed my sending unit today. I spent several hours reshaping the alt bracket and did it without the benefit of the sending unit. the only mod i had to make was to grind a groove for clearance for the little screw. When the dust cleared, you only have one pinch point and that is at the edge of the timing belt cover. get that part right up against the cover and cut the groove and the rest doesnt matter. I tried installing it with the alternator in place but couldnt get a wrench to it.

we spend about 5 minutes modding the alt bracket, it's quite simple using a bench vise

Thanks Razooli! You are quite correct. I am about two weeks into my first Fiat and should have checked the photos against the layout in my car. For those that have to bend the alt bracket, it seems there is a range of experiences though all seem happy in the end. Now I need to check whats left on my credit card limits post Christmas...

Mark, I wrote you a few days ago about this system and you told me that in a couple months you will have one with fuel injection control. Do you have a target price set for this new system? I would like to be your first customer for this if it will be cheaper than the cost of your distributorless system plus a megasquirt system.

I won't have pricing until the mfg is done with the programming and final configuration

I look forward to getting this as long as the price is right. Vicauto has a fuel system for about 1900.00 or so, I hope I can get it for less. That is just the ecu and stuff. That does not include the ignition system.
