I am trying to remove the ignition switch from the column. I have removed the 2 small
screws on the outer part of switch body. I press in the brass spring load piece but can only get a small amount of movement towards the rear of the car. I am missing some important but vital trick to this removal procedure. Years ago I figured it out but I guess I have lost too many brain cells from that time.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.
Thanks,
Harvey
How to remove the ignition switch
Re: How to remove the ignition switch
You also need to "actuate" the key at some moment to have the anti-theft to retract into the cylinder.
And suddenly it works and the switch gets out.

Re: How to remove the ignition switch
I'm having the same issue, it seems like it's so close. I already mapped and labeled the plugs so I can get that right. Any help is appreciated, I'll keep trying the key position/jiggle method and hopefully have a new switch in sooner than later.
