Hello to everyone on the forums.
I have just purchased a 1982 Fiat Spider that had been imported to New Zealand 19 years ago and still Left hand drive (we drive on the correct side of the road here ,the right) which I plan to leave as is.(Sorry no photos yet as I pick up the vehicle in 10 days time and am looking extremly forward to it)There are no plans at this stage to anything to the Spider except drive and enjoy it.Also own and hope this isnt swearing to you guys 1972 fiat 124 sports coupe which has been partially stripped down awaiting time and money for a rebuild.Very pleased to have found these forums as will make ownership that much more enjoyable be able to chat to like minded people.

G'day Jeff, welcome to the forum, from what I've experienced over here across the Tasman, it's not unusual for Spider owners to also have a Coupe sharing the garage. I hardly ever use the hood on SPYDUH, if the weather's a bit dismal we use the Coupe. It's going to be fun driving a LHD Spider on some of those South Island roads, you won't want a nervous passenger.

Welcome to the forum Jeff. Congtatulations on your new Fiat. You answered a question I've been wondering about. We hear about the owners converting to right hand drive and I wasn't sure if it was required by law there. Have fun, don't forget the pictures when you get the car.

Thanks for the welcome replies.
Our conversion rules for left hand drive vehicles are a bit confusing and are under reveiw at present
As it stand at the moment from my understanding is you can import any new or second hand left hand drive into the country,if it is under 20 years old the importer is exempt from convertor vehicle but if they wish to sell vehicle it will be required to be converted before new owner is allowed to drive on the road.If vechicle is more than 20 years old conversion is no longer required.
