Rough idle & EGR

Rough idle & EGR
I think I've found the source of my rough idle. I unplugged the EGR vacuum line, plugged the line and the idle smoothed up quite a bit. I'm thinking of leaving it that way. Any drawback I should be aware of (beside emissions)?

Nope. Check for other vacuum leaks.

egr was also used to diminish detonation, so make sure it doesn't ping under cruise conditions
