Radiator Swap 1980/1982 Spider

Post by LISpider »

Does anyone know if I can use a radiator from a 1982 Spider in my 1980 Spider? Is it a simple swap or do I need to make adjustments?

Do you know if it came from a fi 80? As long as it did then it'll fit fine.

Yes. It came from a FI car. Does manual vs. auto trans make a difference in radiators?

Auto trans radiator has an oil cooler in the bottom of the rad for the transmission. It can be substituted by an external cooler if desired, they are available at any auto parts store.
FWIW, we will have automatic trans radiators in stock in a week or so.

The only difference between a carb and FI 2000 radiator is the location of the right upper fan mount. It was raised on the FI cars to clear the airbox.
