Using Fuel Hose for Brake Hose
I found a fuel hose that will fit the new 6.75mm nipples on the mster cylinder and the old 8.75mm nipples on the fluid tank. Can I use fuel hose for the brake hose on this? I know this is not under pressure, but will the brake fluid create a reaction with the fuel hose? The original was braided, but probabloy should be replaced after 30 years. Thanks!

Re: Using Fuel Hose for Brake Hose
No, you can't.
Brake hoses are very specific, to resist to the highly corrosive brake fluid.
Brake hoses are short then inexpensive.

Actually, there should not be any pressure on the hose going from the tank to the master cylinder. Anyway, I will either use the original hose or look for something for brakes. Thanks for the info.minimike wrote:not to mention the psi on a brake hose would make a fuel line burst.

I may be vilified for this, but here goes. I have FI fuel hose on my master cylinder. It's got a nitrile inner lining that Goodyear says will hold up to brake fluid. It's been on for almost two years now and doesn't show any signs of damage.

That was my original thought. But since I had a master cylinder break and leak fluid everywhere, I am not really willing to risk this again. It was a job to paint all the damaged areas.rlux4 wrote:I may be vilified for this, but here goes. I have FI fuel hose on my master cylinder.
