Finally got all the new rad hoses, timing cover and fan back in the car today and decided to go for the manifold swap before refilling the coolant. Holy smokes! the nut closest to the firewall ws brutal to get to because I didnt want to completely dismantle the carb linkag for fear Id never get it back together properly. well i finally got it off and then the manifold itself wouldnt come out because it hit the steering box. had to loosen the motor mount and jack up the motor so it would tilt up a bit and it came free! yay!
My friend Mike Richmond has been generous enough to teach/help me with this whole process and the car is in his beautiful garage til we get it done. Most of the hoses on my 71 seemed to be original as the factory hose clamps were plentiful. the engine bay already looks much better. i cannot wait to get the single plane in there and hear francesco run!!!
